Leadership

Chris Bird is the Chief Executive Officer and a Board Member of Reliant Rehabilitation. Chris has been an executive in the healthcare industry for more than 20 years with experience overseeing large multi-state/site businesses in the dialysis sector, ambulatory surgery and diagnostic imaging, contract therapy, dental, urgent care and hospital sectors.

Prior to joining Reliant, Chris served as the COO of FastMed Urgent Care and the CEO of ReachOut Healthcare America. He also served in senior executive roles with DaVita, Tenet, and Kindred Healthcare as the President of RehabCare. Chris has an MBA from Harvard University, an MPH from Columbia University and a Master’s in Leadership from the University of Southern California.

People always want to know what differentiates Reliant from other contract therapy providers. While we certainly have what I would consider to be a best in class proprietary operating, clinical and compliance model developed over the last twenty years, it’s the way we got to this point that distinguishes us from the rest. David joined Reliant in 2017 and brings 29 years of healthcare leadership. Prior to Reliant, he served as a division vice president with RehabCare, where he held positions in operations, clinical services, client relations and strategic development. In addition to post-acute care, he has extensive background in outpatient therapy services, including clinical, operations and regulatory, including rehab agency development and certification in multiple states.

He has experience with acquisitions, care management, business development and healthcare analytics. He has PT and DPT degrees and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association where he has served as a state chapter treasurer and national delegate, and he is a licensed health care facility administrator.

Reliant has great therapists, and they are the heart and soul of our company. Peggy Gourgues is Chief Operating Officer of Reliant Rehabilitation. Peggy holds an M.A. in Speech Pathology, a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology and has practiced in home health, private practice, skilled nursing and acute care hospital settings.

She is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, a member of the Healthcare Compliance Association and a 2014 Board Member of the National Association for the Support of Long-Term Care. Peggy has worked in healthcare management for the past 15 years and joined Reliant in 2004.

Peggy Gourgues

Austin Lanham joined the Reliant Rehabilitation team in 2014 where he serves as General Counsel. His duties include advising the executive team on strategic initiatives, drafting complex customer and supplier agreements, supporting compliance and employee related investigations, as well as managing all litigation matters. Prior to joining Reliant, he worked as a civil litigator in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

A graduate of Texas A&M University, Austin completed his legal education at Florida Coastal School of Law. He currently is licensed as an attorney in the State of Texas and is a member of the Texas Bar Association and the American Health Lawyers Association.

Austin Lanham

Stephanie Parks joined the Reliant Rehabilitation team as Vice President of Operations in 2007 and currently serves as the Chief Development Officer. She has more than 18 years of successful experience in the healthcare industry providing clinical, fiscal and strategic operations leadership.

Stephanie is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association and the National Association of Professional Women, the latter of which named her a 2014 Executive Woman of the Year. Stephanie earned her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology and is a 2013 graduate of the Southern Methodist University – Cox School of Business MBA program.

Reliant has built a very solid therapy platform and proprietary systems to help ensure our therapists provide consistent, outcomes-driven results for the patients we serve. Stephanie Parks

Jeffrey Rosenthal is the Chief Information Officer of Reliant Rehabilitation, having joined the company in February 2019. He has over 25 years of experience in Information Technology, specializing in infrastructure, security, software development, project management and governance.

Prior to joining Reliant, Jeffrey served as CIO for Meadows Behavioral Healthcare and Senior Vice President of Information Technology for FastMed Urgent Care. Jeffrey has an MBA from The University of Arizona and a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.

Technology is my devotion, building efficiencies is my aspiration – being able to bring these together to help our patients at Reliant is my passion.”

Jeffrey Rosenthal

Amy Phipps joined the Reliant team in 2011 as Director of Compliance and currently serves as CCCO. She brings 24 years of healthcare experience. She holds an M.A. in Speech Language Pathology and is a certified member of the American Speech Language-Hearing Association.

Amy also holds a Competency in Healthcare Compliance and is a member of the HealthCare Compliance Association.

Amy Phipps

Melanie (Dressler) Teer is the Vice President of Talent Acquisition of Reliant Rehabilitation, joining the Company in July 2018. Melanie has worked as a talent acquisition professional for over 15 years in various industries, primarily in the healthcare space. Her experience has been in leadership, ATS implementations, and significantly in transforming, promoting and aligning overall talent attraction strategies within organizations, while managing large scale recruitment processes and increasing brand awareness and social media footprints for talent.

Prior to Reliant, Melanie led talent acquisition teams at Blue Cross Blue Shield/HCSC, Texas Instruments and AmerisourceBergen. Melanie received her undergraduate degree in business management with a minor in communication and a concentration in human resources from Ottawa University graduating with honors.

When we recruit new therapists and team members, they become the face of Reliant to our patients and our partner providers. Melanie Dressler Teer

Toni Gates is the Chief Human Resources Officer of Reliant Rehabilitation, having joined the Company in May 2017. Toni has worked as human resources professional for over 15 years with experience in various industries. The majority of her experience has been in leadership strategy, organization development, implementation of HRIS systems and overall HR processes.

Prior to Reliant Toni served as the Vice President of Human Resources for Next Health, LLC, and she also served as the Director of Employee Services in a Shared Services environment for National Grid, US. Toni received her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and her Master’s in Business Administration from University of Dallas.
