RUG-IV Correction Bill Gains House Approval
On Wednesday, July 14, 2010, the House of Representatives gave its approval to a bill that would repeal the delay in implementing RUG-IV, and it would restore the October 1, 2010 implementation date. H.R. 5712 was passed by voice vote. The bill now moves to the Senate for its consideration.
The bill also would provide $100 million to CMS to help pay for the reprocessing of provider claims back to January 1, 2010. CMS is still working on a plan to reprocess millions of claims that need to be adjusted because of changes that were made to the conversion factor (CF) by the health care reform law and corrections made by CMS. The cost of the bill is offset by cuts to the Medicare Improvement Fund.
